Snow leopard in mountains

India faces an alarming problem of water scarcity. This is only getting worse with the loss of wetlands—places where the land is covered by water seasonally or permanently.

Nearly two of every five wetlands in the country have lost their natural existence in the last 30 years. Around 40% of water bodies have lost quality for the survival of aquatic animals like turtles and dolphins.

WWF-India works with governments, people and other partners to reverse this damage. Your support can breathe new life into our water bodies.

Your support will help WWF-India:

Bring wetlands back to life and ensure water security for millions

Restore the health and connectivity of rivers

Save freshwater turtles, gharials, and Ganges river dolphins from extinction

Train community stewards in preserving water bodies and their biodiversity

Educate thousands of kids and hundreds of teachers with the Water School Programme
